Lodging Recs

Let's start with a place to stay! Cork has many accommodation options and it can be pricey. But I'm here to recommend the best options for your pocket,

BrĂș Hostel
@TravelWithLeidi
I stayed in this cool hostel, very close to the bus station. With a bar on the ground, playing live music every night, you don't have to worry about going out in the rain to enjoy the nightlife in Cork. It's a simple, budget accommodation with friendly staff.

Top Sights

Cork City is full of attractions, so I curated here just a few to help you get to know the city, its history, and its culture.

Pick what most interests you and plan your itinerary according to the distance from each other and from your accommodation. Don't forget to check the opening hours of the attractions to not be disappointed.

Blarney Castle and Gardens
@TravelWithLeidi
Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from Blarney Castle - you know, after exploring so many castles, your standards tend to rise. Climbing to the top to plant a kiss on the legendary wishing stone 😉, I couldn't help but appreciate the breathtaking view that greeted me. The Gardens took me by surprise in the best way possible. I found myself captivated for hours, wandering amidst tales of old while catching whiffs of wild garlic along the way. I could have easily spent even more time there. From the woods to the vibrant blooms and meandering pathways, every corner of these 60 acres is meticulously maintained and undeniably alluring. Blarney Castle and its Gardens are truly a hidden gem. PS: Blarney is outside of Cork City, but it's only 20 min bus ride and definitely worth it!

Eat, Drink and Buy

Cork City is renowned for its vibrant dining scene, offering an array of culinary delights that cater to every taste and budget. From charming cafes to upscale restaurants.

My favorite spots that you simply must try:

Tara's Tea Rooms offers a cozy and beautifully decorated ambiance. With its great service, tasty food, and friendly staff, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a delightful meal or a soothing cup of tea.

After a refreshing walk along the Greenway, head to Pier Head Inn for a well-deserved pint. This spot is ideal for unwinding as the sun sets, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The Maple Leaf have generous portions and mouthwatering flavors, this restaurant is a must-visit for a satisfying dining experience.

The English Market is not just a place to dine but a hub for local products. Wander through stalls, sample fresh produce, and immerse yourself in the lively market atmosphere.

Another culinary hotspot that I loved is Marina Market, which offers a diverse range of food vendors, artisanal goods, and a vibrant community vibe. It's an excellent place to explore new flavors, enjoy live music, and soak up the local culture.
