Cape Town, the best-kept secret in Hollywood
If you've ever had the pleasure of viewing our beautiful city from catalogues or Instagram pages, you are only seeing the one of many facets that Cape Town has to offer. And like many cut-gems, she sparkles under the light. There is a reason, Hollywood loves making movies in our city.
One of the things you need to know about our city is that if she is good enough for Hollywood then she is good enough for you. Boasting a multi-scenery coastline, post-colonial architecture shimmied between glistening futuristic buildings, this city has culture, heritage and art wrapped up under the African sun.
First things first, when arriving at Cape Town International Airport, you will be greeted by many friendly faces. In Cape Town, its almost our innate nature to warmly welcome guests int our slice of paradise. The first thing you will need to look for is a 'taxi-cab'. Now we do have a few in yellow but I would advise taking the Uber option. Private taxi's are quite expensive. I will be creating a listed of my most-trusted cab services in my next guide so that you have it all listed and ready at your finger tips.
As your carriage awaits, you will be escorted out of the airport and en route to your accommodation. Depending on the time of your arrival or jetlag, you may be tempted to grab a quick bite before heading to the hotel, although, I would better recommend booking an AirBnb. We have some of the best and most beautiful AirBnbs, that make our home yours too. And you guessed it, I am going to curate my favourites just for you in my next guide too. Trust me, I have fantastic taste!
Now Cape Town is not short on places to scoff up food. We have almost every cuisine from different cultures under the sun. We have deli's, restaurants, eateries, wine farms, cocktail lounges, bars, pubs, Pizzeria, and anything you can think of, we will provide. So since I figure you will be asking me for recommendations, I will curate my best list for you too. The secret to eating in Cape Town is eating with a local. Having explored many, many food hotspots, I will be able to tell you what will be worth your while. There is only so much you can eat before sadly having to leave again, so let's make sure you waste no time.
We're very busy people, but not the New York kind. We're always busy having fun. If you choose to visit during our summer months, you will find that the energy in the atmosphere is almost electric. The excitement for summer is so tangible you can't help but find yourself at one of our many beaches. Some of my favourites are Llandudno, Noordhoek Long Beach Pavillion and Muizenberg Beach. If you are looking for the picnic kind of day, well I will have to painfully create a shortlist because there are just so many waiting for you to see.
I am interested in knowing, what more would you like to know about Cape Town before you arrive?
