📝Prepare a draft itinerary, which includes stops for sleeping, distance from one urban center to another, where to get petrol (very important), bathroom break, etc., but above all NEVER drive in the evening unless it is extremely necessary, especially outside of urban centres.

In addition to being dangerous due to the complete absence of lights in the country side, it is also dangerous for the wildlife which mainly comes out after dark, so try to plan your destinations well and arrive at your destination before sunset.

📱Always check the fire situation, whatever state you are in (Victoria, NSW, Queensland, Tasmania, Western Australia, South Australia) you can monitor the emergency situation, unfortunately it is a phenomenon that often occurs, especially in periods of drought, considering that the Australia is mostly covered by deserts, forests and mountains... because of these events,  there are several "fire bunkers" reported around the country.

Along the Great Ocean Road for example you will see signs indicating their presence when you pass through inhabited areas.

🚗ALWAYS drive on the left, be careful at roundabouts, enter the highway, get into the correct lane, overtake and ALWAYS respect the speed limits! (fines are quite expensive)

💧Get yourself at least a case of water (12/24) and some snacks. First of all because water costs a lot of money around while it is cheaper at the supermarket and you can keep it handy in the car (and save that $3 per bottle that costs during the trip, gas stations, restaurants, ect).

🏨Book hotels, hostels, apartments directly with the structure itself, it is always convenient, check if they have parking spot.

💳Take with you a credit/prepaid/digital cards (Revolut, etc.) post covid the laws in Australia have changed a lot, many places only accept Cashless transactions, which I didn't expect..given that I changed €1000 into local currency and then discover that almost everywhere only cards are accepted, but always carry some cash with you.

📶Obviously having a local SIM (or E-Sim), is essential not only to help you get around but also in terms of security.

🔌Check that you have the correct phone adapter, that you have the cable with you to charge it in the car given the hours you will spend and a portable battery!

Enjoy your trip !
