Budget-Friendly Almost Free Family Day in Philadelphia
Morning:
1. Start at the Independence Visitor Center to obtain free tickets to Independence Hall. Tour the inside of the visitor center and let the kids interact with the hands on exhibits, get your free tickets to Independence Hall at the counter and reserve your time slot for the tours
2. Visit Independence Hall to learn about the birthplace of the United States. Your all the buildings, there are multiple buildings to your after the main hall your so be sure to grab a guide map to see the rest of the location.
3. Head over to the Liberty Bell Center to see the iconic symbol of American independence. This indoor exhibit is also free to the public and has tons of information for your family to explore.
4. Next, Explore the National Constitution Center to engage in interactive exhibits on the U.S. Constitution.
5. Take a break at a Starbucks coffee shop that serves free ice water for refreshments inside the constitution center.
6. Visit Franklin Square, a park with a playground, mini-golf, carousel, and storytelling benches. It’s great to pack a snack and catch the water fountain show that runs daily from 12pm-2pm and again from 6pm to 8pm. It includes music or at night there are also lights in the fountain. The carousel ride is optional and costs just (4$ per person)
7. Walk to Reading Terminal Market for lunch (this is the longest walk on the itinerary) we went with a group and walked with our small children, we walked through the China Town District which was really neat) . Try Bassetts Ice Cream for a sweet treat and sample cheesesteaks from various vendors. You can easily feed a family of five at this diverse market for under 30$ by sampling food from various vendors.
