Costa Vicentina: a hiking adventure (Day one)
We went from Lisbon to Porto Covo by a bus from RedeExpressos, which costed around 16€ for the option young person (till 30 y.o.) and they have direct options. The journey takes around 2h10 minutes.
1st day - Porto Covo to Vila Nova de Milfontes
Starting from the bus stop till the beginning of the trail you need to walk through the town, towards the coastline, then close to viewpoint down starts the path.
For orientation purposes I used the Outdooractive app, although the path is marked, sometimes it was good to have some orientation to don’t go out of track too much.
On the way you can enjoy some rest on the beaches that don’t have that many people, even though when we went it was peak season (end of July).
There is also a restaurant/bar on the way where you can stop if you go during the summer season.
The hike took us around 5h35 to reach our destination (19,9 km).
Where to stay:
In Milfontes we stayed at the hostel Piratas:
There are also other good options, for different budgets:
If you prefer to book an entire apartment, also in a good location.
Where to eat:
We personally went on a budget, so we mostly bought our food and cooked it in the hostel. So for groceries we went to Spar Milfontes.
If you want to go out, this are some of the best ones to go:
What to do:
1. Enjoy the beach.
