The romantic Santorini, also called the pearl of the Aegean, is a truly special Greek island, at the same time one of the most famous and representative of Greece's tourist success but also one with its own strong identity, distinct from the other islands. The island was formed following a gigantic volcanic explosion that occurred over 3000 years ago and today is characterized by cliffs overlooking the sea and charming villages made of whitewashed houses, blue domes and intricate alleys. Santorini also boasts a rich past and a fascinating history, made up of dominations, incursions and legends, including the one that identifies it with the mythical island of Atlantis. Ready to go? When to go to Santorini?

The island of Santorini enjoys an extremely pleasant Mediterranean climate, which allows tourists to enjoy its beautiful sea from mid-April until the end of October. So, if you are wondering what is the best time to visit Santorini, know that any time is a good time to go to Santorini.

But before you start organizing your trip to Santorini, consider the period in which to leave. In high season (July-August) the island is attacked by waves of tourists from all over the world, partially ruining the charm of this island. Therefore, we advise you to avoid these months because you may encounter traffic and parking problems (especially in Oia and Fira) because the streets of the island are quite narrow (not to mention the sky-high prices!).

If you can choose when to go on holiday, I recommend going to Santorini in April/May or from September onwards.

How many days to stay?

Personally we believe that 5 days are enough to visit the villages, some beaches, find incredible panoramic points and, perhaps, even take part in an excursion. If you have more days available, you can consider the idea of moving to another island given the numerous ferries that leave from the port of Santorini.
