Apparently this place is closed now. Not sure if there are plans for it to reopen. The Google street view images show construction materials where the office used to be.

Whiteface Mountain

We have a 50/50 record of a clear view at the summit. Worth the drive up, amazing views. I know it seems like cheating, but the elevator to the top is totally worth doing.
The toll road up is part of the Olympic Passport.

Although there are lots of free spots along the river, none of them have cool walkways and stairs like this.

Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex

Part of the Olympic Passport. The chairlift has been replaced with a gondola. Be sure to take the elevator to the top. If you’re lucky you can see young athletes training on the hill.

Sort of hard to find. It’s behind a soccer field off of 73 near the airport.

Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum
@jeffkent
Small museum with lots of Olympic memorabilia and the Miracle on Ice game on a constant loop. Stop and look at the bookshelf next to the counter. They have an original athlete’s info binder with everything they needed to know about Lake Placid and the Olympic Village.
Part of the Olympic Passport.

Noon Mark Diner
@jeffkent
If you’re driving on route 73 through the Keene Valley on your way to or from Lake Placid, you have to stop here. Even if you only grab some pie to go.

the breakfast club, etc
@jeffkent
Our go-to breakfast spot when we’re in or traveling through Lake Placid. There can be a line on weekends, but it moves.
