The Golden Triangle of India: Delhi, Agra & Jaipur
About the Golden Triangle
As you can see on the map, the journey from Delhi to Agra and from Agra to Jaipur forms a triangle. It's easy to see why this route is so popular among tourists; the cities are only about 250 km apart, making train travel between them convenient.
For those unfamiliar with Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, here's a brief overview of the cities based on our experiences and opinions.
🌃 Delhi – A messy gem
Delhi is a city and a union territory that includes the New Delhi district, which is the capital of India (a bit confusing, we know). The metropolitan area of Delhi has a population of over 33 million people.
Some people claim there's nothing to do in Delhi and recommend leaving as soon as possible, but we strongly disagree. Delhi offers spectacular historical sights, our favourite being the Qutub Minar Tower, lush parks, and even huge modern shopping malls where you can find top-tier shops and cafes. The air quality in Delhi wasn't as bad as we expected, though it's still not great, and it can get quite hot.
