🇵🇹 Day Trip to Sintra, Portugal
Sintra sits only an hour from Lisbon, making it an effortless day trip. The historic town is packed full of castles, each with its on spin on design.
Because of Portugal’s explorer history, there are a ton of Islamic and eastern influences in design elements of these castles. The result is something that feels almost out of a fairy tale: beautiful combinations of styles you won’t find anywhere else in the world.
Getting to Sintra
One of the best-kept secrets of Portugal is that Ubers are crazy cheap. Seriously, you can catch an Uber to Sintra (about an hour's ride) for 18-25€, depending on time of day. That's crazy cheap for private chauffering!
If you'd rather take public transport, you can take the train. It runs about every 20 minutes and costs about 3€ per person each time way.
Keep in mind that catching the train still means you'll have to get a ride up to the entrance of each location - the only one that's walkable from the station is the Quinta da Regaleira.
My advice is to plan to Uber up to the entrances of each place - they're very cheap within the city, maybe 3€ per trip.
