Dive Deep: A Guide to Scuba Diving in Jordan's Red Sea🤿
Best time to dive
The best time to dive in Aqaba is during the spring and autumn months (April to June and September to November) when the water temperatures are pleasant and visibility is excellent. During these periods, the Red Sea is calm and you can enjoy optimal diving conditions. However, Aqaba is a year-round diving destination, and you can even dive in winter when the temperatures are cooler but still acceptable. If you have a thick wetsuit, bring it along as most operators only have 3mm suits. I went in March and as I'm a bit chilly, I wore two 3mm wetsuits and was perfectly comfortable.
Where to stay
If you're going to snorkel or dive, I don't recommend staying in the city. Aqaba is a very commercial coastal city with various hotels of different categories. There is only one beach in the city, called Al-Ghandour. Jordan's beaches are not clean at all, unfortunately, they are full of cigarette butts and the sand is more of a combination of dirt and stones.
