About the Dolomites

The Dolomites refers to the mountain range in North Eastern Italy, but it actually runs through 3 regions - Trentino Alto Adige, Veneto, and Friuli. Of course while Italian is the main language, you'll see many signs in German as well, but don't worry - being a popular location, you'll be ok even with English!

This area of Italy is one of the best to explore with children - they are very family friendly, offering accommodations and childcare for all ages.One thing to look out for - take advantage of the famous "mezzo-pensione", the half board. This pricing solution includes breakfast and dinner with your stay, and can be very helpful, especially with children!

Coming Prepared - Gear for Hiking with Kids

If you prefer, many of these hikes can be done with a sturdy stroller, but make sure it is up for the adventure. If you are looking for one that is great on rough terrain, search for a used, or borrow a: BOB Revolution Flex 3.0, or BOB Gear Alterrain Pro Jogging Stroller.

The hikes listed here will have clean paths, but it will be dirt road, a bit of up hill, and of course rocks and sticks popping along the road often.
