A first timer's guide to Nha Trang

A first timer's guide to Nha Trang

Who said Nha Trang is boring? While Hanoi will always be my first love, Nha Trang is the ultimate beach getaway with a little something for everyone. Spent 4D3N soaking up the sun and had an absolute blast. Planning our trip was a bit of a challenge with the lack of up-to-date info online (especially after covid), so here's some quick ideas for your next trip. And before you go, don't forget to apply for an e-visa (USD25) 3 working days in advance (or a bit earlier to ensure you get it in time)! Happy travels ✈️

Where to stay

Boma Resort Nha Trang

Opened in 2022, this 5-star resort is quite affordable with free daily breakfast, an outdoor swimming pool overlooking the coast and a fitness gym with aerial yoga.

On the weekends, there's even free live music performances at the Boma Beach Club, where you can bring your own beer and chill under the stars.

Not all the staff can speak good English, so there's an app where you can make bookings and requests (I used this to communicate with them to arrange a birthday surprise for my bf).

The hotel location is not in the city centre, so there's a free shuttle bus to AB Central Mall, Gold Coast Mall and Ana Beach Club.  Otherwise, Grab is super convenient and cheap (we almost never waited for more than 3 mins and each trip to the city center cost us around VND 150K).

Ana Beach Club

You can enjoy a 30-min sailing experience, 60 minute SUP and unlimited sun bathing for just VND 390K per person. Just remember to ask the staff for a towel before you leave the resort.

Where to eat local food

LÀNG NGON - Vietnamese Cuisine & Seafood Restaurant
@little.miss.picky
Nestled in a peaceful garden, this is the go-to place to taste authentic dishes from all across Vietnam. Just a heads-up: tour groups love this spot too, so brace yourself for crowds during lunch and dinner.

Where to cafe hop

Sol Coffee & Desserts
@little.miss.picky
A Korean-style cafe with an amazing garden and instaworthy interiors. We sipped on some avocado coffee and strawberry yogurt drink, both super yum and seriously pretty. The croffle was decent, but not the star of the show. Definitely worth a visit!

This two-story pink paradise was my absolute fave The Christmas decor and the little lookout were just adorbs. We indulged in raspberry matcha macchiato, almond chocolate, and yogurt cheese cake - all total eye candy.

Chakokoro Matcha Specialty And Tea House Nha Trang
@little.miss.picky
We stumbled upon this little slice of Japan thanks to their ad on Google Maps — the photo ops outside are super cute. While we didn't try for ourselves, they specialise in matcha desserts and drinks.

LEO ARABICA COFFEE
@little.miss.picky
We practically passed by this cafe every day going to and from our resort, so we finally decided to pop in for some drinks after dinner. The peach yogurt was pretty tasty, but nothing really mind-blowing. Still, a nice stop for a chilled-out vibe at night.

Superb service! Food and drinks were above average, but nothing outstanding. Still a great place for celebrations.

The Busa Park

Another super cute place that we passed by when going to and from the resort. Unfortunately it was closed when we came for lunch (although it was within the opening hours), but the dinner vibes here looked pretty spot on.

Where to go for drinks

Hybrid Nha Trang
@little.miss.picky
Ranked No. 98 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2021, this place is tucked away in a back alley. The bar seats weren't the comfiest, but the bartenders were absolute gems and even gave us some shots on the house! All their flavors are crafted with local ingredients and truly out of this world, such as the Black Tomato and Maestro Mushroom. The BEST part is their Rush Hour Offer (6-8pm daily), where you can get 3 cocktails for just VND 360K)!

Wolpertinger Cocktail Vault Nha Trang - 79 Tô Hiến Thành
@little.miss.picky
This upstairs bar is like a time machine to the 1980s, complete with an old-school playlist and a cool view of the streets below. As soon as we took our seats, we were greeted with a welcome drink, some snacks and a mini Jenga. Their cocktails (all priced at VND250K) are a blend of flavors with surprising layers, often featuring a hint of Tabasco for that extra kick. The Wolper Sour I tried was lavender-based and came with cocktail art!

Hot mineral springs I-Resort Nha Trang
@little.miss.picky
We bought our package on KLOOK, which included a 20-minute mud bath, access to the water park and a meal (would skip this though). We couldn't find the water park and only discovered that there's a separate shuttle bus near the entrance when we were leaving. The facilities are a little worn down and lots of group tours here, but I would say the price is very reasonable for such a unique experience. VinWonders Nha Trang
@little.miss.picky
This was truly a mini Disneyland or even better, as there is a water park, roller coasters, VR games, aquarium, zoo, garden and various shows. We spent the whole day here and couldn't visit everything. I would recommend going for the Alpine Coaster and Zipline immediately as these were the highlights for us. The ticket also includes a round-trip speedboat at Vinpearl Land Terminal. We bought tickets online in advance, which were cheaper and a good excuse to the Grab driver that tried to bring us to another local seller along the way. Hòn Chồng
@little.miss.picky
We were unsure whether we had to pay the VND 30K entrance fee, as there were varying opinions on Google Maps. We ended up slipping down to the beach while the guard wasn't paying attention, as the sign at the cafe looked quite shady. There is Hoi Quan Vinh Nha Trang nearby, which does require an entrance fee to admire Vietnamese traditional musical instruments.

Night Market
@little.miss.picky
Relatively small, but a good place to buy local clothes. Each stall sells pretty much the same thing, so be sure to haggle! Also, if you need to exchange some USD, the rates at the gold shops are pretty good.
