Repeat after me: Paris is always a good idea 😌
Okay, now that we've reaffirmed that, let's talk about where to stay on your Parisian getaway! From cute boutiques hotels to your big name favorites, there's no shortage of places to stay in the City of Light.
Selecting a hotel in Paris can be a bit overwhelming with so many great choices, so I've put together a list of my top picks for a variety of budgets. They’re also places I’m confident you’ll enjoy whether you're visiting for the 1st or the 4th time. Also, I've stayed at every recommendation except for one, so I can also personally vouch for the experience.

1. Hôtel Saint Martin Bastille - The Well-Rounded Stay
$ - Clean, comfy, cute, and cost effective. This hotel checks a lot of boxes for a trip to Paris where you don't want to break the bank but still want the charm of the city.
Great for: Solo Travelers, Couples, Casual Sightseers
10/10 Hotel staff: Incredibly kind and friendly, also willing to help you in French or English.
Small but serviceable rooms that are central enough to the main sites if you don't mind a little extra walking.
Great cafes, bistros, and boulangeries nearby.
Neighborhood has more local vibes vs. tourist.
I stayed here in July 2024 and would 100% return.

2. Hôtel Résidence Henri IV - Live Life on the Left Bank
$$ - In love with history and the Lost Generation, this hotel is for you. The rooms are *dated* in the best way.
The Left Bank was cool in the 1920s and it's still cool today! This hotel gives off strong history vibes with room decor to match.
If you stay here you'll be centrally located on the Left Bank and with some extra walking you can get to most of the key Paris sites. There's metro stops that'll take you most places as well.
Tip: This place has a great hammam (steam room) that you can book privately during your stay. Don't delay, call down to the front desk to schedule your spot. it's the perfect way to relax after a long day of walking.
I stayed here in December 2022.

3. Maison Souquet - The Très Chic Wild Card
$$$ - If you love drama, art, & design Maison Souquet delivers. Modeled after a 19th century pleasure house typical for the area in that era, your senses will be pampered in this gorgeous property.
I LOVE this hotel. The history is very cool, the design & decor is stunning, and the vibes are immaculate. Each room is uniquely curated and feels luxurious. Maison Souquet is the perfect mini splurge in Montmarte that gives you access to another really fascinating part of the city.
Tip: Every guest can receive the maison's private spa (steam room, pool, lounge) for an hour during their stay. It's incredible! Make sure you either call/email ahead about a time or as you check in for your stay, book a time.
I stayed here in December 2022.

4. Ritz Paris - The Absolute Splurge
$$$$ - This hotel needs no introduction. If you're working with a splurge budget, you're likely staying here. I've heard it lives up to expectations.
*Splurge Alert* Full disclosure, I have not stayed at the Ritz Paris (yet), but it's on my hotel bucket list! If you're looking for luxury, history, and want to be classy AF, you simply must stay at the Ritz Paris.
This hotel is filled with history and classic glam. One of my favorite tidbits of info is that Hemingway left several Louis Vuitton trunks in the hotel's basement for years! Eventually, the Ritz Paris requested he pick them up or else they'd have to dispose of them, so he came to fetch them. The notes and writings he found inside inspired him to write one of his final books, A Moveable Feast.
This is 100% a splurge, so expect a little sticker shock if you don't typically book luxury hotels.
If you still want to soak up the history but don't want to book stay, I highly recommend confidently strolling through the lobby to check out the public spaces. You can also visit Bar Hemingway for a cocktail.

5. Hôtel d'Espagne - A Sightseer's Dream
$$ - First time in Paris and ready for endless days of sightseeing? Hôtel d'Espagne is a great pick for its central location.
This hotel may seem a little pricey for the size of the rooms, but you're absolutely paying for location. From here, you'll be able to walk to most of the major sightseeing spots and you'll be in the thick of all things Paris. It's a great place to setup basecamp to explore all the city has to offer.
Tip: This hotel has complimentary pastries in the lobby all day too - c'est bon 🥐
I stayed here in July 2023.

6. Generator Paris - Boutique Hostel for Besties
$ - If you're really on a budget, looking to meet people, or just love a hostel vibe, the Generator Paris will be your jam.
If you're on a budget or solo traveling, I love Generator for their elevated boutique hostel vibes. This location is fairly central, but perhaps slightly north of the normal sightseeing hotspots.
Regardless, you'll find great boulangeries, cafes, and bistros in the area. And, the Canal Saint Martin is a stunner in the summer!
I stayed here in September 2017.
