Hotels in Bucharest
Choose a hotel, not an Airbnb, as Bucharest might be hit by a huge earthquake that could destroy more than half of the city. Most Airbnb's are in building with a red dot at the entrance, which means that back in the '80s they were classified at different levels of danger in case of earthquake. That red dot meant that rehabilitation of the building should have taken place at 3-5 years since then. Now, about 40 years later those buildings stay up, but at a slightly bigger earthquake it will be a disaster.
This is not meant to scare you not to come to Bucharest, the last huge earthquake of 7.7 Richter was in 1977. The earthquakes usually happen at night and they are mild, once every 2-3 years maybe, lasting very few seconds, so nothing to really worry about. But experts warned us a very big one might happen anytime that could be catastrophically, it's something that can't be predicted. So the only precaution you could have is to not sleep in old buildings or go clubbing in shady undergrounds.
