Can you survive as a vegan in Seoul?

South Korea, including its capital city Seoul, has seen a notable increase in vegan options and awareness of plant-based diets in recent years. While the concept of veganism might not be as widespread as in some other places, there are still plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy delicious and satisfying vegan meals.

Which Korean dishes could be vegan?

While Korean cuisine is known for its use of meat and seafood, there are several traditional dishes that are either naturally vegan or can be ย adapted to be vegan by omitting or substituting certain single ingredients.ย

Please always make sure to check the ingredients with Papago, ask the staff or look for a vegan sign behind the dishes name, as beef/chicken broth, egg or fish sauce are included often.

-ย Japchae (์žก์ฑ„) -ย Glass Noodle Stir Fry (Beef?)
