Fukuoka is Kyushu’s biggest city and the capital of Fukuoka prefecture. It has been an important harbor city as it is close to other neighboring Asian countries, also known as the “gateway to Kyushu”. To the Japanese, Fukuoka is one of the top three cities known for food. It is the birthplace of tonkotsu or Hakata ramen, and it has the largest number of yatai stalls in the country.
