Portland, Maine | Foodie’s Guide
Miekala Figueroa
My favorite places to eat and drink in my hometown of Portland, Maine. I still have never been to another city that quite beats Portland, Maine's selection of restaurants and bars. This guide includes coffee shops, breakfast joints, lunch and dinner spots, and even my favorite food and beverage retail shops.

Smalls
@miekala
It's a new ritual for me to grab a matcha and sandwich with my grandfather and enjoy our goods at the park down the street. Smalls is such a sweet lil' gem. Check out all the goodies they have in the back of the shop. It's not uncommon to leave with gifts for friends or new goods for my home.

Ohno Cafe

Another staple. I love their bialys with all my heart. This place is a hidden breakfast gem and is my usual go to on Saturday mornings. They have an incredible beer and wine selection as well and would often leave something for a party or dinner later in the day.

Rose Foods
@miekala
Very popular spot, but for good reason. I recommend getting there early. Can be a little pricey but it's one of the best bagels in town. Super cute atmosphere as well! I always took my friends and family from out of town here for a quick breakfast before adventuring for the day.

Palace Diner

About 30 minutes south of the city, but worth the drive. The fluffiest pancakes and crispiest potatoes you'll ever have! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I'm not a tuna gal, but everyone raves about their tuna melt. Very cozy and intimate atmosphere. You're eating in one of the oldest—if not the oldest—diner car in the state.

Tandem Coffee and Bakery
@miekala
Another popular spot, but also for very good reason. Highly recommend getting there early (sometimes there's a line) to grab a spot and a breakfast sandwich before they sell out. Otherwise, they have incredible coffee, pastries, and sometimes pie and cake. Baker Briana Holt is a gem.

Norimoto Bakery
@miekala
European baking, japanese sensibility, Maine ingredients. A bakery with very unique baked goods. I love to grab and bring to a friend or family's place to share.

Bayou Kitchen
@miekala
Bayou has been around for a while and I hope it stays forever. This is the spot if you're looking for a hearty, warm breakfast on a cold morning. This is where you can find me trying to cure a hangover. So yummy!
