Exploring Waterford
From Dublin you can get to Waterford by several means Train Car and Bus. There is a small Airport here but you won't get many flights to it as it is a small airport Waterford is one of those towns that's a balance of sleeping but also the feel of a big city. Easy to walk around or catch a bus or a taxi around from point to point in the main city and there are some bar areas but mainly housing so if you are coming here to explore while it has a good bit you may find yourself very bored here If you are a fan of the drink and food you will like Waterford very much the food will be farm fresh and some nice street food too. while the beers will flow nicely too
Shopping for shopping you can hit the "high street" but to be fair you won't get any Gucci stores here but you will have Dunnnes stores deals TRM Clothing Liberty Euro giant and its a walking street so no cars to worry about just enjoy the country life as the pace of life is much slower here than in a big city or from Dublin. you are also close to the shopping centre City Square Shopping Centre where there will be all sorts more River Island Bookstations Tech shops and Jewellers you will also have some food stores but these are more the fast food snack type places . if you want a nice dining experience .....
Now if like me .... you NEED a pint after shopping well .... fear not there is a nice pub ... or 6 not to far away and if you are very lucky you might have a lovely day and be able to sit outside as this area has taken over the street and setup some outdoor alfresco drinking ... head towards Tully's Bar which by the way do have a nice pint of the good stuff (Guinness ) and you will surely get the ear of a friendly local and have a nice chat . or you can sit and enjoy your peace watching the world walk past Now what happens next after a few drinks? looking for some YUM YUM food well .... right waterford will make you fat as its not even 1 minute walk is a nice little street food place called "Phoenix Yard street food" ... i think i had the burger here from one of the trucks see it will be very strick hygene here so you can always risk it but ... if you are posh and want to wine and dine well there are plenty of places like this too and the food will be eclectic too from Bell pepper to Tandori to Asian streen food and plenty of Fish and chips places bit also high class places where it will cost a fotune to eat ... so leave the wife and kids at home .... oh so the man stays at home with the kids and the wife is getting time out ... ok sure .Michelin star ... Aldridge Lodge .... sorry but im not a fish lover and looking at the photos .... im sure it tasts nice ... but will be pricey and sure you can check the reviews out too Everett's is another Michelin star ... which to me means nothing but apearntly its a big deal i dont know im happy with a dirty burger lol . but for the food snob ... it is top top and does Irish, EuropeanTo be fair alot of pubs do amazing food now i do recall back in the day it was a packet of crisps or it was very bad food but it was when you had no choice but to eat what was infront of you ... nowadays im visiting many places enjoying a lovely pint and wonderful meal and always look forward to the desert ... cheesecake is why im fat ... whats your excuse ?ok so lets put this down to Day one you got to waterford hopefully earlyish checked into hotel ... oh . yeah lets go over hotels since we are on the topic Right so i personaly like the average hotel price range from 90-150 ... the top end is if the place is needed badly . but 90-130 with breakfast is somewhat a decent meal if the hotels are all booked out a BnB is my next go to ... NOT Airbnb ... but a BnB just bed and a hopefully wonderful fry ... now ive not spent any nights in waterford as its only hour and 30 mins home to Dublin so i cant recomend any places but ive stayed in Dungarvin and not been disapointed . food is amazing . so much that i dont need ketchup on my Fry in the morning ok so thats day 1 ... do you want a day trip ? well lets look on the map ... ok well if its good weather lets go to Tramore .... if its bad weather ... back to the pub so and try again tomorrow Driving is 20 minutes bus is about 44 minutes walking ... well you will be fit at 3 hours walk ... and dont forget you have to get your ass back .. What is tramore good for ? .... no im asking you ? cause ive no idea ? its just a beach and amusements . oh and some nice pints ... yeah ive a problem but thats for buying this ... next round is on you ... So during the seasonal months .... eh summer time its very popular destination with carnival rides and casinos and slots ... kinda like the atantic city ... vs Vegas ... your miles away from Vegas so you will just settle ... oh gambling is Legal in Ireland and the most important part ... 100% tax free ... as of 2024 .. im sure the goverment will be onto that one soon. you could spend the day here or go for some nice walks the beach front is stunning and penty of fun things to do or just sit and watch the crowds blow past pricess will be high here as its a popular destination I went fr food at One the Waterfront and i cant recall the food being amazing but it was decent the pints were lovely and the view from out the back was very nice too . you get to sea .... out onto the beach ... see what i done there ... oh Dad jokes
I paid a stop into Murphs Bar but its a typical old style Irish bar dark and dingy where im either getting older or the teens were underage and getting a few pints ... but its harmess and a right of passage as a young Irish anyway Now ... if you have a car .. please please do not drink and drive there is a 0 tollerance here in ireland which means .... not even a pint. you will get in trouble if caugh . so please dont risk your life or anyone elses . drink either a lemonaid or a .... and it hurts me to say this ... but a 0.0 ... which is a beer but no alcohol there is a few brands that do them Guinness heninken and bulmers ok now you are sober and in tramore . you are just a stones throw away from the gold coast drive ... I have this all ... or the most part recorded by drone on my youtube channel "grand walking tours" head towards Copper Coast Drive View point and then follow the road to basically Dungarin and you will find plenty of places to stop go for a swim in some world class beaches . looks for the Blue flag and you will have a clean water beach Ireland is very clean .
