Edinburgh

Edinburgh

How to spend 2 days in Edinburgh, Scotland and see A LOT. I did this trip between Christmas and New Years but it can be done at any point. I enjoyed purchasing the City Sightseeing bus Hop on Hop off tickets that had tickets for the Edinburgh Castle but those tickets can also be bought separately.

Day 1

Take an overnight flight that will get to EDI sometime at 10am. Public transportation is very easy to use, once you leave the airport walk towards the train and stop at the kiosk outside its gates to buy a round trip ticket into the city center.

I stayed at the Premier Inn, its tucked away on Princes Street with a direct view to the Edinburgh Castle.

Take the audio tour and learn about the yacht that took Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family to many places.

After walking throughout the yacht, it could be around dinner time. Take the tram back to the city center or the Hop on Hop off bus back to its starting point.

Rest up for the night and have tickets for the 10am Edinburgh Castle entry.

Day 2

Wake up around 8am to walk towards the first stop of the Red line of the City Sightseeing bus; this will stop at the Edinburgh Castle.

After your tour take a walk to The Spence for dinner. Be sure to make a reservation beforehand because it does get busy for dinner.

Although on the pricy side, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is really cool. I thought it was really cool to learn it used to be a bank.

If you are into ghost stories there are night tours that you may not need to pre book depending on the time of year you are visiting.
