From places to stay, what to visit, where to eat and 15 stop pintxo guide, this is your insider list of the top spots around town. Originally from California, I've been living in San Sebastian for several years and am eager to share a full run down of the places and spaces that make Spain’s most gastronomic city so special.

San Sebastián owes much of its fame to the fact that it has more Michelin starred restaurants per capita than anywhere in the world. And while its excellent gastronomy keeps food-lovers coming to town, it’s the dramatic, rugged coastline, surf culture and unspoiled scenery that makes people want to return. Here are the special spots around town, the ones we keep returning to and can't wait to tell our friends about.

: Helpful information

• San Sebastian = Spanish form, Donostia = Basque form

•Not all of Spain is sangria and paella. Each province has its own culinary specialties and you will not find flamenco or tapas here. The Basque Country has its own unique charm. Embrace it.

•The landscape here is a vibrant green. This is due to the fact that there is much rainfall. Check the weather, come prepared, but do not let rain deter you - there are places perfectly suited for such weather.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Elisa Maria Torres
I am inspired by the courage travel requires and how it calls each of us into the unknown, out of our comfort zones. It is a portal to somewhere different, new, and exciting. I have been moved to travel from a young age and have immense gratitude for the places and people my insatiable curiosity have brought me to. With time, I've learned to avoid tourist traps, and I appreciate the fancy just as much as I do no-frills. I proudly pour a considerable amount of time, energy and research into my travels both prior to take-off and while on the ground, always staying open to where the adventure leads. I believe these collected moments ought to be shared so that others can also have a fun, effortless, and one-of-a-kind experience, too. Each guide is a thoughtfully shared list of treasured restaurants, coffee shops, creative spaces and more. These are ideal for the traveler who craves access to insider details, while still maintaining their independence along the adventure. Whether you are equally curious, the design conscious, or the first time traveler, my guides ensure you have access to the high quality experiences you seek.
