Lyon - The Middle Ground of France
France is a place that every traveller should experience, with it being a top priority for people due to its reputation for wine, sights, and love. This was the case for my friends, who visited me from Australia while I lived in Spain this year. With some days free between our time in Nice (the luxurious coastal city) and Paris (An undisputed cultural icon), Lyon seemed like the perfect middle point to discover. We weren’t disappointed with our decision, as we became immersed in the city's beauty. It became one of our favourites of the trip as we enjoyed the cuisine, nightlife and safety of this underrated city.
It is famously known as the World’s Capital of Gastronomy, a title rightfully earned as it hosts 20 Michelin-star restaurants. With every step on the cobblestone of its medieval streets, you can’t help but appreciate where you are in the world. This is a place that solo travellers, families and couples especially can enjoy, whether for a quick 1-day adventure or 3 days for the whole experience as your leading destination or a stopover throughout France and Europe.
