Peaceful Hikes in Madeira
+
Madeira is a hiking paradise, but if you're like me and prefer to hike in peace to truly enjoy nature, this guide is for you!
While the most popular hikes in Madeira are often crowded—and with good reason, given their unique and magical views—there are still ways to explore this beautiful island like a local, away from the hustle and bustle.

My Advice for Peaceful Hiking
Start Late in the Day: Most people begin their hikes early. A trick I’ve learned is to start hiking after 2 PM when most hikers are already done.
Rent a Car: While shuttles are convenient, renting a car gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace and avoid the crowds that come with scheduled transport.
Weekday Adventures: The island is far less crowded during the weekdays. Not only are flights typically cheaper, but you'll also have a more serene experience compared to the bustling weekends.
