Your Capsule Packing Travel Guide
My dear traveller, welcome to my fashion world & thank you for choosing this guide! Let's pack your capsule collection of day-to-night outfits!
Rule #1.
Be honest with yourself & take only what you really need based on planned events & weather (particularly fast-changing in Europe). Keep in mind, that summer in some European countries really varies and normally isn't as hot as you can expect it to be. Welcome to the club of layer-players🙃
1-week trip:
Colors & Fabrics:
- Focus on your palette of 3-4 colours: 2 base colours & a couple of accent colours that work well together to create versatile outfits.
- Prioritise high-quality natural fabrics: serve you longer & pleasant to the skin.
- Give your preference to the wrinkle-resistant fabrics for stress-free travelling.
- Roll, don't fold: rolling clothing items can save space & reduce wrinkles of sensitive fabrics such as linen, silk etc.
- If bulky items aren't rolling enough, like coats or boots, wear them during your travelling to save some space in your luggage.
Outfits:
- Take up to 8-10 pieces for 7-days trip.
- Start with essential basics: white cotton T-shirt, pair of jeans & black/beige shoes.
- Try to avoid pieces which you can't style with at least 2 looks.
- If weather at your destination allows, include a few dresses that can transition from day to night with a change of accessories/shoes.
- Remember about 80/20 wardrobe concept to mix & match basics with trends respectively.
- Take those outerwear pieces (jumpers, cardigans, lightweight jackets etc.) that you can keep over the shoulders if warm outside, yet still in a sophisticated modern way.
Accessories:
- Take up to 3-5pcs to elevate your outfits with accessories like scarves, hats, belts & statement jewellery.
- Pick your 3 favourite versatile bags. Play with detachable/adjustable strap or add the silk bandeaux (thin scarf) over the handle for a pop of colour! By the way, that scarf can also be styled on your neck or hair😉
- Use jewellery pouches smart: either by sets for each outfit, or by type (all bracelets separately from all earrings to find things easily)
Shoes:
- Limit your shoes to a few (2-3) versatile pairs that can work with multiple outfits.
- Use shoe pouches to keep the pair & other stuff clean. Ideally, separated ones per each shoe.
- If your casual trip includes any specific events, remember that pumps look so elegant by styling with jeans as well.
Last but not least!
- Depending on the duration of you trip, just divide all the amount above in two for weekend getaway or double it for 2+ weeks trip.
- Review & edit your clothing choices. Think twice & remove any items you're unsure about to avoid overpacking. 90% chances are that the last one you put in, you won’t wear :) So stay mindful, creative & stylish!
- Take photos of your planned outfits before packing to remember your stylish combinations while traveling.
