Here are a few places we stopped at as we road-trip through three major cities of Taiwan. Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, & Kaoshiung 

Road-Trip Taiwan 

We landed from our connecting flight and went straight to Imaoli county! As you drive through Dahu you will find fields of strawberries and you can go pick your own strawberries and pay for them at the very end! Time of the year for this is April, May, & June

After that we drove to TaiChung City where we stayed at a friends apartment. We cleaned up after a long long trip and rested before dinner. 

For Dinner, we stopped to get the most traditional meal you can get in Taiwan,  HOTPOT. This location below was so delicious it is a very popular spot for locals!

In the morning we stopped by a LOUISA COFFEE, this is like their version of Starbucks! So delish.  

After getting our caffeine for the day, we headed towards Tainan to continue exploring like a local. 

During this time of year (june) it’s rainy season. So make sure you carry an umbrella, you’ll definitely need it! 

After having lunch with friends we went to visit a temple in Tainan.  Tainan is known for their Temples. We went over to the Jinhua Temple

They have “Joss Paper” also known as spirit money that you can burn in the temples.  This is a way of praying for certain things and people. Give a try when you are there! 

After you have done some exploring go to their night markets! Here you will find a plethora of boutique shopping, great food & bars!

Incense smoke is said to clear negative energy!

We woke up this morning and made a day trip to Kaohsiung City

We took the bullet train, this was an experience!  What our 3 hour would normally take took us only 45 minutes!

Once we got to Kaohsiung we took a taxi to Dragon and Tiger Pagodas.

While you are there to taste authentic boba tea! Boba Tea actually originated in Taiwan so there is great tea in every corner.

Before hiking and exploring through the Pagodas we stopped for food because we were starving and found these restaurants along the walking path to the temple.

After exploring this town, we took the train back to Taichung where our apartment was.

We spend the evening exploring the National Taichung Theater 

Finished the night in a local dive bar and had local Taiwan beer!

We drove up to Taipei today.  I love taking public transportation when I travel because it makes me feel like I am traveling as a local and using the subway in Taipei was pretty cool! 

We walked around town and found delicious street food! 

Later found Soda Nails and got my nails done for so cheap! 

We went to Taipei 101 but unfortunately due to it being rainy season it was so gloomy and the view did not do the place justice! But did you know that Taipei 101 was once the tallest building in the world!? From 2004-2010

We stayed at the Grand Hotel that was absolutely stunning and really made you feel like you were in Taiwan.

After exploring the hotel and enjoying its bar and amenities we went off to dinner at one of my favorite places that since covid, no longer exist :( 

But there are many great restaurants you should take advantage of while in Taipei here are a few that I have researched and found:

After eating we proceeded to go out in Taipei, and let me tell you they know how to fun! We went to Omni Club and for a split second I thought I thought I was in Vegas!!

OF COURSE THE AFTER PARTY WAS A KARAOKE ROOM!

Waking up was a bit rough, but we did what we do best in Taiwan and that was eat! After feeling better we didn’t much time to do a lot besides eat since I had a connecting flight back to Seoul. This was a short week but it was such a great experience.  You can definitely space this out and spend more time in each city.   I recommend really exploring the night markets and the restaurants, I still wake up dreaming about the food I had!
