The Vatican Museums, home to one of the world's most extensive art collections, offer a mesmerizing journey through centuries of artistic and cultural heritage. From Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling to ancient Egyptian artifacts, the museums' unparalleled richness and diversity make them an essential pilgrimage for any traveler visiting Rome.
š”Helpful Hints
- If you're an early bird, I highly recommend booking the first available time to visit the gallery for less crowds.
- The path through the museum usually ends at the Sistine Chapel. However, I recommend you move quickly to get to the Sistine Chapel in order to experience it with as few other visitors as possible and then make your way back through the rest of the museums collections.

Chiesa di Sant' Ignazio di Loyola
@lauriealvarado
We kept walking past this grand church and finally decided to wander in when we saw the doors open one morning. It was almost as impressive as the Sistine Chapel!
If you're in the area, I definitely recommend you pop in but also a lesson to wander off the beaten path and step into churches and buildings that aren't on the guide books!
