Azulejos are the blue and white tiles you see all over Portugal specifically in Porto where you can pretty much see this iconic decorative art in almost every corner of the city. Here are few of the best spots you can visit to see these beautiful tiles. Make sure to bring your camera (or phone) with you to snap a photo or two (or more!).

São Bento Station

This is probably the most beautiful train station in Portugal (at least in my opinion).
You probably want to come here early (before 10am) to avoid the tour crowds.

Igreja do Carmo

I found this to be the most photographed one. The front of the church may look ordinary but if you see its sides, then you’ll be amazed by the beautiful azulejos.

This one is located nearby the Bolhao metro station, so if you are coming via the metro, you will easily spot this one on your way out.

Church of Saint Ildefonso

The church itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site, making it a must see. Also nearby is Livrello Cello (known to be the most beautiful bookstore in the world).

Porto Cathedral

It is free to enter the main cathedral, but has a fee of around 3 euros should you want to go to the cloister (which you probably should as this is where you will actually see the azulejos).
