Cafes
Say goodbye to endless Google searches for the perfect cafรฉ: we've done the legwork for you!
Forno Ghibellina
@MementoMartina
This is the perfect cafe to grab something on the go.
Immediately when you enter, youโll see the wide selection of delicious treats, sweets, and savories.
Itโs great for grabbing a coffee and a snack on your way to class or work, and everything inside is so delicious.
Youโll notice in most coffee shops that Italians do not take their coffee on the road with them. They prefer to finish it in the store, whereas I- and probably you too- like to sip on my caffรจ latte throughout my morning. Because of this, most cafรฉs serve coffees very small.
Ghibellina Caffe is one fo the few places that has a larger cup that you can enjoy on the go.
They are already so affordable, but they offer a student discount, and take American Express.
I need to note that there is no seating in this cafe, it isnโt a place to sit and work but it is great to grab on the go.
Closed on weekends.

Gino's Bakery
@MementoMartina
Stop by this little bakery on a hot day for a quick but delicious treat!
This cafe is not one to sit down and work at, but I have to include it because of the frozen orange juice. It is one of the most refreshing drinks I have ever had and it makes for the absolute best remedy for the summer heat.
Also a great place to enjoy baked goods from other regions:
- "cannoli" and "arancine" (stuffed fried rice balls with saffron) from Sicily;
- "sfogliatelle ricce" (crispy pockets of ricotta and candied fruit) from Naples;
- slices of savory "torta pasqualina" cake from Liguria;
- warm "torta valdostana" focaccia with cheese and ham from Northern Italy.

Situated right along the river, it is great for grabbing a morning coffee and enjoying it outside.
There is plenty of room to grab a table and get some work done, you can stay as long as you want!
They have great Wi-Fi and take American Express."

They have great free Wi-Fi and will let you sit all day and work, as long as you order something.
They also take American Express.
They have multiple locations around the city but this one in particular has a huge space for indoor and outdoor seating.

floret Artisan Kitchen & Bar
@MementoMartina
I'll let you in on this little secret: a beautiful cafe hidden in the heart of downtown Florence, unmarked.
Head into LUISA via Roma fashion store, and up the stairs to discover this gem.
Floret is one of the most comfortable little cafes I have ever been in, and I could sit in there doing work all day long.
It is nice and quiet, with amazing food and drinks, especially their iced coffee, which is hard to come by in Florence.
They have free Wi-Fi, take American Express, and have the kindest staff!
P.S.- When you finish, I would definitely stop and look around LUISA before you leave. They have an amazing collection of pieces by all of the best designers. It is a beautiful store to browse through and appreciate.
