Winter in Pelion, Greece - Promo code included!
Mount Pelion or 'Πήλιο' is a famous destination all year round since the visitor can find both beautiful beaches and cute mountain villages. We had an amazing 3 days trip during December.
Please make sure to have special winter tires or snow chains for the car if you are visiting from November to March.
Where to stay
Portaria is the village closer to the city of Volos. If you want to have restaurants, bars and pharmacy nearby, it is probably the best village to choose.
We stayed at Belina Hotel and we were very satisfied. Having a private parking is a must, and we also enjoyed the breakfast and the fireplace in our room.
Where to eat
Each village has its own very nice and traditional restaurants and tavernas, but below you can find some options that we personally tried and enjoyed very much.
What to do
Makrinitsa is probably the most beautiful village in Pelion. Stroll around and enjoy the amazing view from the square. Visit the old village church and buy mountain herbs and tea.
The little train of Milies is a cute reminder of the past. You can either have a small trip by the train towards 'Lechonia' village, or the can just enjoy a walk by the rails until the iron bridge.
If you are a ski lover, you can always spend a day or two at the Pelion Ski Centre.
Consisting of four different settlements, Tsagkarada is a unique village. Have a walk around and enjoy nature!
