Indiana Dunes National Park
Day 1:
Driving into the park you’ll have to pay a $25 entrance fee that is valid for 7 days.
Reserve a camp site at Indiana Dunes State Park well in advance as they book up almost as soon as sites go live.
Set up your camp site at Indiana Dunes State Park.
After you set up camp take a quick walk down to the beach from camp and watch the sunset. You can walk down a board walk and sidewalk path to and from the campground and the beach.
Day 2:
Starting at the campground hike trail 10 and take the trail 9 shortcut to get to the beach. ~2 miles total if you do out and back.
Pack lunch and beach stuff, it’s way less crowded down where trail 9 takes you to the beach. Hang out on the beach for the day.
Day 3:
Try 3 Dune Challenge 1.5 miles but extremely steep and tough. (Maybe don’t do it with a toddler).
We climbed one dune (Mt. Jackson) switching our toddler on our backs and we barely made it.
Take pictures at the sign and check out visitor center.
Pack lunch, leisurely climb dunes and swim all day.
We packed a cooler and cooked all our meals at our campsite to save money.
