Charlotte, NC One Day

Charlotte, NC One Day

My wife and I were in Charlotte for an event for my work. Here is what we did with the one day we had to explore Charlotte & make the short trip to South Carolina. Enjoy!

We stayed at the Embassy by Hilton on the outside of Downtown Charlotte and had  complimentary breakfast at our hotel.

Downtown Charlotte

From our hotel we took a 15-20 minute (no traffic) Uber ride to the Charlotte Hornets Spectrum center.

From there we walked less than half a on 5th street to Old Settler's Cemetery. This is a small, public, park like cemetery we walked through on the paved path diagonally to the edge of the Fourth Ward on Poplar and Sixth Street to start our walk through the neighborhood.

We then walked less than a mile loop down 3-4 blocks of Poplar, turned left on Settlers Ln, left on Pine and stopped for lunch at Alexander Michael's. This restaurant had good pub style food and fills up quickly. It opened at 11, we arrived 11:45 on a Friday, got a table, and there was a line out the door by 12.

After lunch we walked about one mile down Pine and Mint Street to the Bank of America Stadium, home of the Panthers.

More & South Carolina

After lunch and our 2 mile walk through town we called for a 15 minute Uber (no traffic) to the Sullenberger Aviation Museum. This museum has the plane Capt. Sullenberger landed in the Hudson and more on it. This is also a great plane viewing spot for the Charlotte airport for other airheads (as named by the museum).

After about an hour and a half at the museum we decided to take a 20 minute Uber (no traffic) to Cabela's in Fort Mill, South Carolina. We chose this location because it is fun to see what they have, wasn't far over the state border, had a BBQ place- Famous Dave's (great happy hour menu!) next to it for dinner, and was indoors (it was 85 degrees & 70-80% humidity and rained on us during our walk earlier so we wanted to be inside).
