Discovering Morocco: A Journey Through Time and Nature

Nestled at the crossroads of Africa and Europe, Morocco is a land of vibrant cities, sweeping deserts, majestic mountains, and coastal beauty. Whether you're drawn to its ancient medinas, stunning beaches, or the majestic Atlas Mountains, Morocco promises an unforgettable travel experience.
Our first stop was Marrakech.
Stayed at Riad Samir Privilege Boutique Hotel & Spa.
I had an amazing experience at the riad. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with such warmth and hospitality. The staff made me feel right at home, and the food was absolutely delicious—every meal was a treat. We stayed in the Riad for 3 nights.
Day 1 we started with sumptuous breakfast at the Riad and took the local map. The Riad is walking distance of the Souks and central area. We started with the Souks, crossed that and took some cash from AlBarid ATM.
Pro Tip: 1. Al Barid Cash Kiosk or ATM gives you the best rate. So take cash from this ATM. Not from the Airport.
2. Try Lamb Tagine with Fig
Next we had our lunch at Jamaa El -Fanaa- Square. Morocco is renowned for its vibrant street food scene. Dishes like tagine, couscous, sardines, and briouats,Rafisa as well as delicious sweets like chebakia and baklava, are just a few of the amazing options you can find. The aromatic spices, fresh ingredients, and rich cultural influences make Moroccan street food an unforgettable experience!
Jamaa El -Fanaa- Square- known for its bustling souks, historic places and vibrant atmosphere
Bahia Palace- It will be on the way towards Fanaa Square
Majorelle Garden- You need to book a slot before visiting this garden. I advise you to book it one day prior visiting
If you want to visit the architectural monuments- Saadian Tomb is the best place. It is one of their Tombs which you can visit being a foreigner. This historic tomb, dating back to the 16th century, are one of Morocco's most famous attractions.
We end our day relaxing in Hammam in the Riad.
Day 2, we started early morning at 6am for Hot Air balloon Ride. Booked our trip from Viator.com. The balloon ride started at 7:30 Am on top of the Atlas Mountain. And the trip ends with a generous breakfast.
Day 3: We started our Sahar Desert trip early morning. Booked from the hotel .
Pro Tip: Always try to book the sahara trip from the hotel. And take the luxurious options available for the trip. It will be cheaper than any app provider.
First stop was Ouarzazate- "Gateway to the Sahara."
One of the most notable attractions in Ouarzazate is Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which is an ancient kasbah (fortified village) famous for its unique mudbrick architecture. It's also a popular filming location, having appeared in movies like Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones.
Our hotel was Dar Ahlam Dades. We had luxurious stay and dinner.
Day 4 : Next day entered Sahara after a long day road trip.
Stayed at Ideal desert Camp in Merzouga. Another memorable stay.
The performance by localites, the camel ride, the delicious dinner and breakfast served by the camp made this journey magical.
The night sky in the Sahara Desert is a breathtaking experience that leaves visitors in awe. Far away from the light pollution of cities, the Sahara offers some of the clearest, most stunning views of the stars. The vast, open expanse of the desert allows for an uninterrupted view of the night sky, where countless stars appear to twinkle brightly.
Day 5: Started early morning for Fes. Reached at the Riad Fes Touria Palace at around 7pm .
We chose our stays very near to the city center or Madina. So it become very convenient for visiting the souks and local places.

Best Times to Visit Morocco
When planning your trip, it's essential to consider the weather, local festivals, and tourism crowds. Morocco boasts diverse climates, so knowing when and where to visit during different seasons can enhance your adventure.

Summer can be quite hot, especially in the inland cities like Fes and Marrakech, where temperatures can soar. However, this is an excellent time to relax on the coast or explore the cooler regions of the Atlas Mountains. If you love vibrant street life and bustling markets, don't miss the Marrakech International Film Festival held in December.

Autumn is another ideal time to visit. The temperatures become more comfortable, making it perfect for exploring the ancient medinas of Essaouira or taking a trek in the Sahara Desert. The Gnaoua World Music Festival in Essaouira in June is a must-see for music lovers.

While winter can be chilly, especially in the mountains, this is the perfect time for those who prefer fewer crowds. You can enjoy the serene beauty of the Sahara Desert under the stars or take a quiet stroll through the historical Fes. The winter months also offer a chance to experience the magical atmosphere of the Marrakech Christmas markets.

With its rich tapestry of landscapes and cultures, Morocco invites you to explore its wonders at any time of the year. From the ancient charm of its medinas to the breathtaking beauty of its beaches and mountains, your Moroccan adventure awaits.
