Foodie Guide Covent Garden

Foodie Guide Covent Garden

Some favourite spots to eat, drink and pick up snacks in Covent Garden. Covent Garden is in Central London (UK) close to Trafalgar Square, Soho and Piccadilly Circus. Its great for shopping, wandering, relaxing and is a great location for a pre/post theatre meal as its within walking distance for the theatre district.

Haven't been here in a while but it was memorable enough to include it in this list. Located in the hidden courtyard of Neal's Yard. The breakfast food is fab and remember the banana bread especially. I do think they do some brunch food as well. Get there early as its SMALL and not much seating. Instagrammable

Neal's Yard Dairy (Covent Garden Shop)
@christinejolley
This isn't a restaurant but a fab place to go to pick up some cheese and biscuits for a potential summer picnic or to take home with you (they may ship direct!) . If you've never been to a proper cheese monger's shop you must go in to experience it. You can ask for samples of any cheese you want to try. YUMMY :) Would highly recommend Stilton or Applewood if they have it at the time as these are my two favourite cheeses. Stilton is especially a great British cheese as they always have it on the Christmas table to have after meals here. Do get some of the nice crackers they sell there as well. There's multiple shop locations including Borough Market which is another foodies paradise in London.

Five Guys Covent Garden
@christinejolley
Not the healthiest of places but good for a rare treat. Think they do one of the best burgers in town. We end up sharing the fries/chips as its so much food. There's more seating downstairs and is one of the original five guys in London that came over from the USA. The milshakes are fab too. Just make sure you go here on a day where you'll be able to get your 10k steps in as well.

Pick & Cheese - The Cheese Bar - Covent Garden
@christinejolley
This place is in Seven Dials Food Market which has LOADS of options for you to choose from but this place deserves a mention because of how cool it is to have a cheese bar where the food comes round on a conveyor belt and you pick. My partner loves cheese and he didn't want to leave. They do have desserts and drinks and wine although we don't drink alcohol. Its got meat and bread and a bazillion different cheeses to choose from. A trip to Seven Dials is a lot of fun to wander round afterwards. You may need to pre book because this place is popular or go early like we did.

Wahaca Covent Garden
@christinejolley
This is not American Style Mexican Food but more traditional inspired Mexican street food. Numerous locations, Love the food here. Would recommend the Pork or Chicken Burritos w/extra cheese, the tortilla chips with guacamole, the Rainbow Bowl (with added chicken) and their non alcoholic cocktails. We both love the Passionfruit and Hibiscus Cooler.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I'm an American in London who has lived here over 20 years. I adore travelling and our trips (my partner and I) always involve something artsy (gallery, museum), nature, exercise, wandering, good food and lots of cafe stops. Besides London have spent serious amounts of time in Paris France although my french is a work in progress. I will always try to recommend places my partner and I been to personally. We have done backpacking through Thailand, Morocco and Egypt, done mid range hotels through Europe and have done luxury too where we've eaten at Michelin Restaurants and stayed at Posh hotels. So a real range in our holidays but we always try to have a good balance in whatever we do. Here to give you suggestions on London from the perspective of someone who has lived here quite a long time. Will also share itineraries on other places I've been to in Europe and elsewhere. Former music teacher now PT film/TV extra and blogger and travel lover.
