About this trip
The route follows the well maintained and easy trails of the GR (main routes through the Pyrenees) as well as some unmarked trails that require crossing a glacier and mountaineering.
The itinerary is made for a 6-day loop starting and ending in Ordesa in Spain. Alternatively the route can started and ended in Gavernie in France or cut short to 4 days. For every day of the intinerary a location for camping is given, as well as a refuge in case you don't want to camp. Below you find information about how to get there, trail conditions, climate and more.
Note: the terrain on parts of this trail is extremely difficult. You'll have to descent the Monte Perdido Glacier and cross the pegs below Faja de las Flores. If you don't like this risk, it is recommended bringing basic climbing gear (harness, rope, ice axe) and not go solo. If you prefer something easier skip the easter loop and head straight to the mountain pass Port de Boucharo (day 5) and pass to Gavarnie to follow the itinerary from day 3. You can explore the Ordesa valley on a day-hike, but you'll already get some great views from the start of the valley.
