In the heart of Lisbon’s ‘Parque das Nações’ area, Oceanario de Lisbon stands as a testament to marine conservation and biodiversity. Built for the World Expo ’98, this acclaimed aquarium is celebrated for its immersive exhibits and is recognized as the best in the world by travelers on TripAdvisor.

What You Will Find in Oceanario

With tickets priced at 25 euros (with special rates for children and seniors), Oceanario offers an unforgettable journey into the depths of the ocean. Home to over 500 species, including penguins, sea otters, sharks, rays, and more, this marine wonderland boasts an impressive collection of marine life.

The highlight of Oceanario is its colossal 1,000-square-meter tank, housing a mesmerizing array of marine creatures, including the majestic sunfish, rays, barracudas and groupers. With four large 530 sq ft acrylic windows on its sides, and smaller focus windows strategically located around it to make sure it is a constant component throughout the exhibit space.

On the top flour you will find Four tanks around the large central tank house four different habitats with their native flora and fauna: the North Atlantic rocky coast, the Antarctic coastal line, the Temperate Pacific kelp forests, and the Tropical Indian coral reefs.

Each one of the tanks, as its own atractions. On the Pacific Habitat prepare to be enchanted by the antics of two playful otters, Odi and Kasi. These adorable creatures captivate visitors with their playful antics and offer a unique opportunity for interaction and observation.”

Additionally, explore two floors of captivating exhibits, showcasing local marine habitats, including tanks dedicated to jellyfish, octopuses, starfishes and other intriguing sea creatures.

Oceanario de Lisbon often features captivating temporary exhibitions that offer visitors unique insights into marine ecosystems. One notable example is “Forests Underwater” by Takashi Amano, a visually stunning display that we’ve had the pleasure of experiencing multiple times in recent years.
