Railay Beach, Krabi, Thailand
Getting there...
The closest airport is Krabi Airport. Access to Railay is solely by boat, further fostering its tranquil aura. Pathways wind along the coastline, leading to beaches, jungle trails, and exciting activities like hiking and kayaking. This detachment from mainland Krabi adds to Railay's laid-back vibe, evoking a carefree atmosphere.
To get to and from Railay from the mainland, you have several options. If you're coming directly from the airport I would recommend taking a taxi to Ao Nammo pier and getting a boat from there. Public longtail ferries depart from three main points: Ao Nammao, Ao Nang, and Krabi town. You can catch a ride to any of these piers from around the area, with fares ranging around 100 baht per person depending on your pickup location.
From Ao Nang and Ao Nammao:
Quick 15 minute ride. From Ao Nang and Ao Nammao boats go every hour between 8:00 and 18:00. From Ao Nang, you can purchase tickets at a booth near Phra Nang Inn for 100 baht per person. Boats from Ao Nang can drop you at Railay West, Ao Tonsai, or Haad Phra Nang just tell them when you book. The sea on the eastern side of the peninsula tends to be calmer in low season, making Ao Nammao a more reliable option during that time. They will drop you at Railay East pier. Return boats operate within the same timeframe and are easy to find. You can typically talk to the boat guys and book a return on the spot each hour. In high season you may be able to catch a later boat. If you miss the last boat, you may have to pay 800-1200 baht for a private boat.
