Capri (Amalfi Coast pt 2)
Why Capri?
Upscale shopping, ancient villa ruins, and unique boat excursions like the Blue Grotto and Punta di Tragara make Capri a favorite day trip while visiting the Amalfi Coast.
When to visit
April-June, September-October
Capri is worth a day trip while staying in the Amalfi Coast. See my guide for more information about when to visit!
How to get there and back
Capri is a small island so is only accessible by boat, but ferries arrive multiple tu,es throughout the day from all major ports on the mainland. I recommend an early start each day, taking the first ferry out and returning around 5pm to enjoy the evening back “home”.
Book your ferry ahead:
Once in Capri’s Marina Grande you can take the funicolare (funicular) or can take a local taxi throughout the island. I recommend taking the funicular up to Piazzetta first to explore the stores and central area of Capri but be prepared to take a taxi to either Villa Jovis or Villa San Michele (on different ends of the island).
Funicular: Marina Grande <> Piazzetta
