Panetteria Gradellini Parma
@MementoMartina
I think this spot is pretty genius. It’s a bakery, so you’ll find plenty of cakes and breads, but since we are in Emilia Romagna, you'll also find plenty of fresh pastas - which this region is well-known for. But the most special thing they have here is take-away "anolini in brodo", a piping-hot cup filled with a delicious meat broth and anolini, a fresh pasta stuffed with meat and cheese. Way better than Starbucks! Just ask for “anolini da passeggio”.

Pepèn Parma
@MementoMartina
Parma is well known for an unexpected specialty: horse meat tartare sandwiches! Pepen, the original, is one of the two best locations to enjoy one, served with grilled zucchini and mayo ("pesto di cavallo crudo"). This is a very simple location, perfect for a take-away lunch. There are few, precious seats, but I wouldn’t rely on them being available. The sandwiches are long and soft and can be filled with a number of combinations, not just horse, so take some time to check out the menu to see what sounds best, you can find the menu on Facebook at the link below. For the more adventurous eaters, you might want to consider the raw pork sausage sandwich! Since there can be a pretty long line, if you’re traveling with a larger group or are short on time I strongly recommend calling ahead (see phone number below) to make a reservation for your preferred sandwich.

Frank Focaccia
@MementoMartina
Parma is well known for an unexpected specialty: horse meat tartare sandwiches! Frank Focaccia is one of two best locations where you can enjoy it. While Pepen is the original and considered by many to be the best, I love Frank Focaccia too because they have a wider selection of combinations, plenty of seating options, both indoors and out, and a delicious, crunchy, toast-like bread.

Aperitivo

Enoteca Tabarro
@MementoMartina
A cozy wine bar conveniently located in the middle of Parma's historical center. This a great place to stop at for an aperitivo with a nice glass of wine and a careful selection of cured meats and cheeses and other delicacies.
