EUR is definitely unlikely to be your initial choice for a Roman holiday, but if your travel motives align with any of the following, then this tailor-made guide promises amazing discovery for you:
1. This is not your first trip to Rome, so you're looking for something different.
2. You're staying in Rome for more days and you want to discover non-stereotyped destinations.
3. You live in Rome and looking for ideas to spend your weekend or day offs within the city.
4. You're visiting Rome for work reasons, concerts, or congress that (very often) happens to take place in EUR district.
About EUR
EUR is a district located in south of Rome. The overall look of the district is very different with the city center of Rome. In this district you can find wide streets, skyscrapers, large spaces, and a lot of iconic Fascist (rationalism style) Architectures.
Benito Mussolini, the infamously known Italian Fascist leader, wanted to create a new site for ‘modern Rome’ that he envisioned to be his new "Roman Empire". He chose a southern suburb for its proximity to the seaport. Rome was awarded the honor of hosting the 1941 World’s Fair, but Mussolini postponed it to 1942 to align with the 20th anniversary of the Fascist coup d’état. The district is named after the Universal Exhibition (that actually never happened) – Esposizione Universale Roma, or EUR for short. Keep reading to dicover more about this unique side of Rome!
How to get there
From Fiumicino Airport ✈️🚕
Because it is located outside the Roman wall, and closer to where the airport is located, if you get taxi from the Fiumicino Airport, it won't cost you the fixed price (with normal traffic it would cost around €30-€40). It will take around 15-20 minutes with the taxi/car. Taking public transport from Fiumicino to EUR will take you much longer (around 1 hour) since you have to make a stop at termini and take the metro B direction Laurentina until almost the last station.
From the city center🚍🚇
Take Metro B direction Laurentina, then you have 3 stops as your option; EUR Magliana, EUR Palasport or EUR Fermi. Otherwise if you depart from the nothern parf of Rome, take the bus 30 direction Laurentina from Piazzale Clodio. I recommend using MooneyGo app to easily buy tickets with you phone.
In general, EUR is easily accessible by public transportation, but to travel more with ease, car is the best option since streets in EUR are large and long, so it may take more time to move from one place to another.
If you travel to Rome to attend a congress at La Nuvola, this is your option. This is also located just in the end of EUR shopping alley, viale Europa. Perfect solution for you to be closed to la nuvola right at the street full of shops, bars, and restaurants.
If you travel to see concerts in Atlantico or Palazzo dello sport, then this hotel is a perfect solution. This is at walking distance from the 2 venues. Euroma2 shopping mall is also just 15 minutes walking from this hotel.
There are a lot of international offices nearby such as Microsoft, Oracle, P&G and many others. So if you travel for work reasons, this is a great option to stay.
Looking for a weekend relax, not spending much but getting access to swimming pools, gym and sauna? Here's a hidden gem in EUR. This place is easier to reach by car since it is not really at the center of EUR. Great option to spend a relaxing staycation without leaving the city.
Located just next to Euroma2 shopping mall. There is a direct walking path from the hotel to the shopping mall. If you are traveling to watch a concert at Atlantico or for work reason, this is a perfect option for you.

La Nuvola's avant-garde design has sparked heated debates, with critics arguing that its bold and unconventional architecture disrupts the traditional aesthetic of EUR. While some view it as an iconic symbol of modernity, others express concerns that it clashes with the district's historical character, highlighting the ongoing tension between innovation and preservation."

Once an old cow farm, La Vaccheria has undergone a remarkable transformation into a vibrant cultural hub. A decade of effort and a 3 million euro investment have led to its unveiling. The venue showcases restored ruins from the excavation site in southern Rome, alongside cycles of modern art displays. Beyond exhibitions, it boasts dining zones, a bookstore, a conference room, offices, and art labs.
