3 Day Itinerary to Sequoia National Park

There are 7 campgrounds and 1 hotel located inside of Sequoia National Park. We stayed at Lodgepole Campground. 

I like to keep day one mellow since there is typically lots of driving involved. I like to stop by the visitor center and pick up a map of the park. 

Foothills Visitor Center is located on your right hand side after entering the park. Here you can also get a stamp if you’re into collecting them! 

After the visitor center is Tunnel Rock on your left. Here is a cool little photo op of the boulder that fell onto the old Hwy. 

Now let’s get to your hotel and get situated or start setting up camp! 

We started our day off with Tokopah Falls. It is a 3.8 mile out and back trail that runs along the Kaweah River. Absolutely beautiful. Easy for the entire family to do. Our 4 year old was able to complete this trail no problem. We packed a lunch and ate it at the waterfall before heading back. 

Next - The Congress Trail & The General Sherman Tree

After our hike we headed to the shuttle which is located in front of the Lodgepole Visitor Center if you’re staying inside of the campground. The shuttle is free to ride and the drivers are very informative should you have any questions!Attached below is a map of the shuttle route. 

We stopped at the Sherman Tree Trail on the green line to view the tree and walk along the trail. 

Once again we took the shuttle to Moro Rock. We started at the Lodgepole Campground taking the green line to the Giant Forest Museum stop where you have to transfer onto another shuttle shown as the gray line to Moro Rock. The shuttle drops you off directly infront of Moro Rock. 

We were told in the Spring/Early summer you can see bears in Cresent Meadow. From Cresent Meadow take Tharps Log Cutoff trail to view the log cabin. 

If you’re driving you can drive through a downed sequoia tree or you can walk through if you took the shuttle. 

Day 1 - Welcome to Sequoia National Park!

$35 entrance fee per vehicle good for 7 days 

Free shuttle runs throughout the park. I suggest using the shuttle if you are visiting the park during peak season as parking fills up quick.
