Where to stay 🏠
1. Akyra Manor SHA Extra Plus
This hotel is GORGEOUS, right in the centre of Chiang Mai, plus it only takes 7 minutes to walk to the popular Nimmanahaeminda Road.
Akyra hotel has a beautiful rooftop bar who serve the most delicious and aesthetic drinks, they even have a clear pool on the roof which makes for a great photo!
The Italian restaurant in the hotel serves the most delicious food, plus the breakfast is fresh and delicious and offers so many options.
We lived in Chiang Mai for 6 months, and in my opinion this area is the best location to stay, it has all the best markets, including ONE Nimman.

2. Na Nirand Romantic Boutique Resort
If you're looking for a more traditional Thai feel, this hotel offers Thai elegance without compromising on comfort, this beautiful boutique hotel is tucked away by the Ping river, with beautiful tropical views this is a quiet oasis with just a short walk to the night markets and town.
They have a big pool, a spa that offers lots of treatments and a delicious breakfast with lots of options.
3. The Inside House
A beautifully clean aesthetic, gorgeous interior and perfect location in the centre of Chiang Mai, Old Town. This hotel has Immaculate cleanliness and is beautifully decorated, with spacious rooms and luxurious amenities, including private pools.
A tranquil and healing ambiance which even includes the lavish breakfasts and complimentary afternoon tea.
4. Shangri-La Chiang Mai
If you're looking for luxury with all the bells and whistles for a quarter of the price, this exquisite hotel is in a great location, easy to walk to main attractions such as old town and the night bazaar.
You won't be stuck for choice here, with the biggest pool in the city and 4 restaurants on site, they even offer every option at the breakfast you could wish for such as: Continental, Vegetarian, Vegan, Halal, Asian and American. I love a good buffet with options so this is a great plus.
5. Art Mai Gallery Hotel
Looking for something with lots of personality? This Art hotel offers specious rooms with lots of character, a great gym and a large rooftop pool.
This hotel is much more budget friendly and I think the prices don't really reflect what you get here, the location (bang in the middle of Nimman road, the perfect location) and facilities such as the gym are so worth booking.
6. Away Chiang Mai Thapae Resort a Vegan Retreat - Sha Extra Plus
One of the most beautiful and serene hotels Chiang Mai has to offer, go even if you aren't vegan, it's worth it.
The airport, Night bazaar, Walking street, Old city can be reached within 5-10 minutes walk. Surrounded by ponds and gardens, this hotel offers a holistic approach to health and wellness with organic vegan & plant based meals at Moreganic Restaurant. They even offer yoga classes!
7. U Nimman Chiang Mai
This 5-star luxury hotel couldn’t be in a better location, it's a sophisticated yet vibrant retreat on Nimmanhemin Road, literally on the doorstep to the city's trendiest shopping, dining and nightlife district.
With features such as an all-day dining restaurant with a terrace bar, a rooftop swimming pool and bar, a wine bar with library, a state-of-the-art gym and a tranquil garden area for relaxing. You can even pre-select your preference of in-room pillows, soaps and teas prior to arrival!
8. Chiang Mai Marriott Hotel
This hotel has very modern and comfortable rooms, in a great local location, with A fully equipped and modern gym, luxurious spa that offers lots of treatments, kids pool and and rooftop pool.
9. Cross Chiang Mai Riverside Resort
Nestled in a tranquil location near the old city, the resort offers spacious rooms with lovely views and an atmosphere enriched with cultural details and scenic river-side gardens.
Some of the unique features here include a serene pool with the option to kayak and beautiful riverside views, a great choice if you want a modern resort with a closer feel to nature.
10. Meliá Chiang Mai
If you’re looking to be right in the heart of the markets and busier streets, this is perfect, this modern hotel offers a lavish pool, spa, and diverse dining options.
Service at Meliá Chiang Mai is top-notch and this is a great choice if you want convenience and comfort. A short walk to the night market and other attractions are also a major plus.
11. Hotel Sensai Nimman - Adults Only
This hotel is absolutely beautiful, in a perfect location again, near Nimman road and close to the Old City, this has a very authentic Thai feel, with high quality and delicious food, comfortable beds and kind staff.
12. Smile Lanna Hotel
Another beautiful hotel with an authentic Thai feel, this time closer to the airport, you would need to rent a car or use taxi's more often here, but they are so cheap it doesn't matter! a 15 minute journey on Grab was £1.80 for us, so it really isn't an issue.
The reason I've included this one is because it truely is stunning, a serene paradise with everything you need.
13. Chala Number6
This luxurious boutique hotel is in the heart of Chiang Mai's Old Town, with elegant rooms (some with private balconies or jacuzzis) and a serene atmosphere in the beautifully landscaped grounds, pool, and spa make this a fab central choice.
Top selling points for me are the delicious breakfast with lots of variety and perks like free bikes to explore the town with.
14. Maladee Rendezvous Hotel Chiang Mai
Modern luxury with a intimate and tranquil atmosphere, this hotel offers a beautiful outdoor pool and a delicious and diverse breakfast selection. It’s also very close to the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar which was one of our favourite places to visit.

15. Tolani Nimman Villa Chiang Mai
This villa is a fantastic option for large groups, offering plenty of space that far exceeds what the website photos show. Located on Nimman Road, it's in a prime spot as it’s within walking distance to top restaurants, bars, and galleries.
The host is incredibly thoughtful, providing fresh water daily and preparing a delicious breakfast each morning. It also has impeccable cleanliness, with the villa kept spotless throughout our stay.
16. Tolani Northgate Villa Chiang Mai
Another villa of the same host, this villa is a traditional old thai style villa, which really makes your experience in Thailand feel authentic, again Lucy is a fantastic and attentive host who will go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible, plus theres a great private pool!
🏡 Villas for peace and tranquility - 15-20 minutes drive to centre.
17. Rarin Villas
This villa is a 15 minute drive from the centre, the spacious villas come with private pools and feature excellent facilities such as an on-site spa, fitness centre and a hot spring.Staff are incredibly helpful and will deliver breakfast directly to your room.
So book this stay if you want focus on privacy and relaxation, it’s a perfect escape while still being close to the city’s attractions.
18. Palm Villa - Award Winning Modern Luxury & Exclusive Villa Resort
Palm Villa is an award-winning luxury resort in Chiang Mai and I can see why, it has gorgeous mountain views, a rooftop pool, and private gardens.
With four king-sized bedrooms, six bathrooms, and multiple living areas. You can enjoy a private spa, sauna, and fitness classes on-site, making it ideal for relaxation and wellness.
If you’re looking for somewhere family-friendly, this villa also has a kids’ pool and play areas. Plus, if that wasn’t enough they offer complimentary shuttle services, airport transfers, and even a cinema and Xbox!
19. Chandra Residence
Another serene retreat with exceptional hospitality and beautiful surroundings. This villa is exceptionally clean, well-decorated and feels like your own private tranquil paradise.
Highlights include a private pool amidst lush greenery, you can even get an in room massage! All whilst still being close enough to the city to not have to travel too far.
20. Villa Mahabhirom - SHA Plus
Last but certainly not least, this villa is a uniquely beautiful and tranquil experience, blending traditional Thai architecture with modern luxury. Photos do not do justice to the actual beauty of the property.
This is truly one of the most beautiful villas in Chiang Mai, with stunning gardens, a swimming pool and the peaceful ambiance about the property.
Each villa is designed like traditional teak houses and provide a serene retreat.With outstanding service from staff and a delicious a la carte breakfast featuring high quality ingredients.
