Discovering New York: A Week-Long Adventure
Accommodation
New York City is divided into five districts: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens, and the Bronx. For the best experience, staying in Manhattan is highly recommended, despite being the most expensive option. The district is subdivided into Upper, Midtown, and Lower Manhattan, with hostels being the most budget-friendly accommodation.
If you prefer hotels or B&Bs at a lower cost, consider North Brooklyn or Long Island in Queens, but keep in mind that you'll need to rely more on the subway.
For a family-friendly, quieter stay, the Upper West Side, Upper East Side, or Lower Manhattan (specifically the West Village area) are excellent choices.
Young travelers will find Midtown Manhattan to be the perfect hub.
Areas to avoid include the Bronx (especially the southern part) and eastern Brooklyn, as they tend to be less safe and off the tourist path.
