Is Canada a Good Vacation Spot? - My Honest Opinion

Niagara Falls is the main city in the Niagara Region. In this guide, I will feature activities throughout all of Niagara, including Niagara-On-The-Lake, St. Catharines, Welland & Grimsby. Surrounding cities & towns include Haldimand-Norfolk & Hamilton. 

The weather in southern Ontario is all over the place. Fall and springtime have warm days (20+ degrees C) and colder days (1-10 degrees C), whilst winter is consistently around 0 to -20 degrees C. The warmest months are July and August, with days being as high as 35 degrees C. If you visit during springtime, expect lots of rain, and if you visit during the winter, don’t expect too much snow. Southern Ontario only gets a few snowfalls per year. However, it can get pretty cold by the falls, and sometimes the falls freeze in the winter!

Niagara Falls, ON, Canada

The best way to get around Niagara Falls is by walking. Traffic is crazy and hard to get around with the amount of pedestrians on the street. However, Niagara does have its own busline that can take you around the entire Niagara Region. Although, if you’re planning on leaving the region and visiting surrounding areas, having a rental car is the way to go as different city buslines don’t overlap.

I have attached the nearest airports to Niagara Falls. I would recommend either flying in to Toronto or Hamilton, and taking the GO train straight into Niagara Falls.

- Raingear (for when you’re near the falls)

- Sweaters/hoodies (it can get cold near the water)

- Sneakers/running shoes (lots of walking)

- Cash (they use the Canadian Dollar but places in Niagara Falls central accept the American Dollar as well)

- Credit card (debit doesn’t always work in other countries)

- Valid photo ID (passport, driver’s licence, etc.)

- Summer clothes (for spring/summer time)

Niagara Falls gets crazy busy in the summer time (July-August), however, that’s really the best time to go because many Clifton Hill activities are closed throughout the winter. To avoid crowds as much as possible, visit in May-June or September-October. I wouldn’t advise going at all between November-April.

I highly recommend you purchase the Clifton Hill FUN PASS instead of paying for every attraction individually. $39.95 for each adult and $26.95 for every child grants you access to 6 major attractions: The Skywheel, Zombie Attack Shooter Ride, Midway Ghost Blasters Dark Ride, Movieland Wax Museum, Carnival Chaos OR Midway Toy Store 4D, Wizard’s Golf OR Dinosaur Adventure Golf.

Stay up-to-date with showtimes and schedules with the following theatres. They usually have some good shows.
