A weekend in Livorno: 3 (or 4) Days in the Little Venice of Tuscany
Lorenza Guerri
Explore this lesser-known, harbor city of Tuscany. Learn about its history, discover quaint corners and unique places in the Venice quarter, taste all its best food, relax in beautiful locations, and get lost in the magic of some of the most enchanting sunsets this region has to offer.
The itinerary is for a full 3 days, with a bonus fourth day (and amazing exploring options) if you have the opportunity for an extended stay.
Once you experience the spell of Livorno, you'll want to keep coming back for more!

Day 1
The best way to get a taste of Livorno is on water. I recommend starting your weekend with a boat tour of its canals to learn about the history of this harbor city and view some of its landmarks.

@lorenza
The best way to visit key landmarks of Livorno and its Venice-style canals. They also offer tours in English. The meeting point is at Scali della Darsena, opposite side of the main monument of the Quattro Mori.

After the tour, for great, freshly caught, fried seafood I recommend Il Chiosco del Porto, next to the boat tour location. Enjoy your lunch!

Before you continue exploring Livorno's canals on foot, take a short walk to the Fortezza Vecchia, where you can climb up, admire the beautiful views, and even get a drink at the bar. If you are lucky, you'll also find some live music playing!
Fortezza Vecchia
@lorenza
Livorno's old fortress by the sea where you can climb up, admire the beautiful views, and even get a drink at the bar. If you are lucky, you'll also find some live music playing! The fortress entry is a bit hidden. You'll have to walk towards the Varco Fortezza sign and then turn left.
