If you're planning a trip to this picturesque country, navigating its various regions via public transport can be a breeze with the right tips and information at hand.

Switzerland boasts an extensive network of trains, trams, buses, and boats that connect even the most remote corners of the country. Whether you're traveling between cities or exploring quaint villages nestled in the mountains, there's a mode of transport to suit every itinerary.

Swiss Travel Pass: Your Key to Convenience

For visitors looking for hassle-free travel, the Swiss Travel Pass is a godsend. Offering unlimited travel on the Swiss Travel System network, including trains, buses, boats, and even some mountain railways, this pass provides both flexibility and value for money. Available for durations ranging from a few consecutive days up to a month, it's perfect for exploring Switzerland at your own pace.

These passes can be purchased on the sbb.ch website or on the sbb app along with more information on the passes themselves and on what is included or discounted with them. 

Choose Scenic Routes

One of the highlights of traveling in Switzerland is the opportunity to experience its breathtaking scenery from the comfort of a train or boat. Be sure to include scenic routes like the Glacier Express, Bernina Express, and GoldenPass Line in your itinerary for unforgettable views of snow-capped peaks, shimmering lakes, and picturesque villages. Many of the main scenic routes are not included in the Swiss Travel Pass, however, Glacier Express so as the Bernina Express do go through railways that can be accessed with the passes as well. To access those you need to check on the sbb app which trains are consider "panoramic trains" and which ones are not. To access the panoramic trains you will be asked to buy a reservation ticket with additional costs, which are not mandatory to access non-panoramic trains. Do not worry, you will enjoy the same exact scenic routes for a fraction of the price.
