Thailand: Also known as the The Land of Smiles

Thailand is a fascinating mix of culture, food, and scenery that feels like a whole new adventure around every corner. From bustling cities and tropical beaches to ancient temples and lush jungles, it’s a place where you can just as easily get lost in the buzz of street markets or find your zen on a quiet island.

Bangkok
@benandrew
The Capital City of Thailand; Bangkok is a city that never sleeps—an energetic mix of ancient temples, bustling markets, street food stalls, and modern skyscrapers. It’s a place where tradition meets the fast-paced life, with tuk-tuks zipping through narrow streets and high-end malls standing next to historic sites.

Nysa Hotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 11
@benandrew
Nysa Hotel in Bangkok is a stylish, comfortable hideaway located in a quieter part of the city, offering a nice balance between relaxation and easy access to the bustling urban life. The rooms are modern and cozy, with thoughtful touches that make it feel like a home away from home. There’s a rooftop pool with great views of the city, a gym if you’re up for a quick workout, and a restaurant serving a mix of local and international dishes. It’s not right in the thick of the tourist spots, but that’s part of the charm—you can enjoy a peaceful stay while still being a short ride away from popular areas like Sukhumvit, Siam, and local markets. Perfect for a laid-back city experience with a touch of luxury!

Getting around Thailand is pretty straightforward, whether you're hopping on a budget flight, taking a scenic train ride, or catching a tuk-tuk to your next meal. It's got the perks of both the modern world (think skytrains in Bangkok) and the more laid-back side of travel, like motorbike taxis and ferries to the islands. The country's easygoing vibe and friendly locals make it a hit with travelers, especially those on a budget.

Useful Common Facts:

Capital: Bangkok Population: Approximately 70 million Official Language: Thai Currency: Thai Baht (THB) Time Zone: Indochina Time (ICT), UTC +7 Calling Code: +66 Electricity: 220V, 50Hz (plugs are typically two-prong, round or flat)

Chiang Mai
@benandrew
Chiang Mai, nestled in the mountains of northern Thailand, is a charming blend of history, culture, and nature. Known for its over 300 temples, including the famous Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, the city offers a more laid-back vibe compared to Bangkok. It’s a hub for outdoor adventures like trekking, visiting elephant sanctuaries, and exploring waterfalls. The old city, surrounded by ancient walls and a moat, is full of cozy cafes, night markets, and cultural experiences, such as traditional cooking classes and handicraft workshops. It’s an ideal spot for those looking to mix relaxation with a bit of adventure.

A little History..

Thailand is the only country in Southeast Asia that was never colonized, so it's kept a strong cultural identity. The monarchy is a huge part of Thai life, with the current king, Maha Vajiralongkorn (King Rama X), having taken the throne in 2016. His father, King Bhumibol, was incredibly loved and reigned for 70 years, which means you'll still see a lot of tributes to him around the country.

Phuket
@benandrew
Phuket, Thailand’s largest island, is famous for its beautiful beaches, lively nightlife, and luxury resorts. Located in the Andaman Sea, it’s a top destination for those looking to relax on sandy shores, explore tropical waters, or party the night away. Patong Beach is the hub of nightlife, with its bustling bars and clubs, while quieter spots like Kata and Kamala offer a more relaxed atmosphere.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sawasdee Krub 🙏 // A big hello from Thailand, the Land of a Thousand Smiles! 🇹🇭 Hey, I'm Benji! I've been living and working in the travel industry here in Thailand for the past six years now, and what a journey it's been! 🤯 Before settling in this beautiful country, I spent five years on the Gold Coast in Australia, also in the travel biz. Funny story—I actually arrived in Thailand by chance! I was on my way back to the UK from Australia after my visa expired (feeling pretty bummed about leaving), and I booked the longest layover I could find: two days in Bangkok. Thailand was never even on my radar before that. In fact, I didn’t even know where it was on the map! (Don't worry, I do now!) But those two days changed everything. I fell in love with the country, the people, and the incredible vibe here. Before I knew it, I landed a job that let me travel around Thailand and get paid to explore this amazing place. Fast forward five years—I had worked my way up to operations manager, but something was missing. I wanted a place to call home, instead of living out of a suitcase. So, I decided to put down some roots. Now, here I am, living in Bangkok for the past year and doing what I love most: creating unforgettable trips and itineraries that let you experience Thailand the way I did. Whether you're planning a "backpacker budget, hostel-hopping, living-your-best-life" kind of adventure or you're more into the "boujee 5-star, private guide, luxury travel" scene, I've got you covered. Or maybe you want a mix of both? No problem! Let me craft your Thailand Dream Itinerary and show you why this country stole my heart. 🇹🇭🔥😎
