🏝️☀️ No matter if you're a beach or mountain person or a history lover, this guide will help you to make the most of your time in Cyprus. This itinerary covers the Southern part of the island including a short visit to the Turkish side of Nicosia.

A Perfect 4-Day Cyprus Travel Guide

Over the past centuries, Cyprus has been part of many different empires and nations, thus it's a gem for history lovers, but you will have a great time aswell, if you are here for the picturesque nature and cute mountain villages, or just want to chill by the sea.

Fun fact: Since 1974, Cyprus is divided into a Greek and a Turkish part, with a UN buffer zone in between. According to Cypriot law, legally, you can only enter the country through the Southern Part of the Island.

Best time to visit: March to May, September to early November

After arriving to Larnaca Airport, head into the city using one of the public busses which depart just outside of the terminal. The bus drops you straight at the city centre.

Stroll along the seafront where you can find many restaurants and souvenir shops, and take a dip in the sea if you wish. 

Next, hop onto the bus to Nicosia, the last divided capital in the world.

The bus will drop you off just next to Eleftheria Square.

Cypriot coffee is very similar to Turkish coffee, characterized by a very strong taste and coffee grounds being left in the coffee when served. 

Turkish delight consists of sugar and starch and different types of flavouring.

After finishing sight-seeing in Nicosia, head to your hotel ideally located in Larnaca or Ayia Napa. In my opinion, Ayia Napa is more vibrant and popular among tourists, with plenty of opportunities for a night out or just to have dinner.

If you want to visit other parts of the island, I'd recommend you to rent a car, because the public transport from one end of the island to the other takes about 3 hours without any opportunities to visit sights in between, and there is barely any transport to the mountains.

Keep in mind that most companies do not allow you to visit the Turkish side with the rental car.

After leaving Ayia Napa / Larnaca, your first stop will be at the archeological site of Kourion.

You can also head down to the beach close to the archeological site, where you can also find a restaurant to eat at.

Next, head to the Rock of Aphrodité, where you can take a dip in the sea and enjoy the views. 

Your next stop will be in Paphos, where you can stroll along the beachfront with many opportunities to have a late lunch / dinner and visit the archeological site.

After that, head to the village of Omodos, where you will have plenty of restaurants to choose from to have lunch. Don't forget to try the hand made caramelized pomegrante Cyprus nuts.

Stifado is a Greek/Cypriot stew made from beef or rabbit.

Before heading to your hotel somewhere around Paphos, watch the sunset at the Shipwreck of Edro III which ran aground in 2011.

After that, it's time to head to the mountains which are probably less frequented than the seaside. 

Start off your day with an 1-1,5 hours long hike in the Avakas Gorge. Be mindful that it can be very slippery.

Your first stop will be Tzelefos Bridge located in an idyllic and peaceful environment a couple minutes away from the parking lot.

Next, head to Kakopetria, another lovely village in the Cypriot mountains.

Your last stop before heading back to Larnaca / Ayia Napa will be the village Lefkara where you can have an afternoon coffee.

You will spend your final day on the Cape Greco just outside of Ayia Napa combined with some rest on the beach.

I would recommend to rent a quad for this, as it's great fun and easier to get around with. There are plenty of rental companies to choose from in Ayia Napa.

After having finished exploring Cape Greco, head back to Ayia Napa for lunch, and rest at Nissi Beach for the rest of the day.
