36 Hours in Miami: Weekend Itinerary!

36 Hours in Miami: Weekend Itinerary!

So, you're ready to go to Miami but have under a weekend to do it? This is the itinerary for you! Welcome to my Weekender Series, meant for the limited-on-pto weekend warriors of the world. With our schedules on this particular week, we visited for a Thursday to Saturday trip, leaving Thursday afternoon and returning Saturday evening. This could work similarly for any weekend you have, and if you're at all closer to Florida, you'd likely end up with even more time! This itinerary is broken down by a few hours at a time, giving you an example of a very full day and a half! Included are places I recommend personally and substitutions for ones that I don't necessarily feel lived up to the hype. Some highlights include: • Best of Little Havana • Where to stay • Art in Miami • South Beach stops • Casual foodie options Additionally, you'll find a final list of "extra" suggestions: things I didn't have time for, but would definitely like to squeeze in to my next visit!

Hour Zero: Land at the airport in the AM after attempting to sleep on the budget airline’s seats

Miami airport is straight out of the 90s, or at least the smaller terminal is haha! It was easy to navigate and a short walk over to Uber pickup point.

Hour 1-3ish: Head straight to Little Havana/Calle Ocho

Our cost at 7am on a Friday (in May) was about $25 for an Uber. We got dropped off in the main area of Calle Ocho, but should have just Uber-ed straight to Versailles Bakery. We ended up walking there instead, and it was about two-three miles from where we began. (Check opening times though, we were a bit early to go straight there - so this is why we ended up walking).

Calle Ocho was so fun to walk around and see all of the shops, bars, food, etc. Below are all of the places we stopped by. I recommend all of them! Stop in anywhere nearby for cafecito in the morning or a refreshing mojito in the afternoon.
