This is a four-day itinerary to Udaipur - "City of Lakes" which also includes Kumbhalgarh Fort and Chittorgarh Fort. The city is separated from Thar desert by Aravalli ranges and surrounded by lakes. Its known for its historic forts and palaces, museums, galleries, natural locations and gardens, architectural temples, as well as traditional fairs, festivals and structures. How to reach from Delhi? 

🚆Train - There are two trains running daily from Delhi (12963 at 6:25 PM and 20473 at 07:40 PM). These trains take 12 hours approximately and cost around INR 1200. 

🚍Bus - If its spontaneous plan and train tickets are not available, book an overnight sleeper bus from Delhi which will take around 12 hours and will cost INR 1500. 

🛬Air - There is airport in Udaipur and direct flights are available from Delhi. 

Day 1️⃣

Reach early morning, take a bike/scooter/car 🚗 on rent. Throw your bags in hotel and have a stomach filling breakfast 🥞 (you can obviously try some street food) because we are going out of city today.

Bahuballi hills

These hills are at the end of Badi Lake and a short hike of 10-20 mins is required to reach the top. From Saheliyon ki bari, the distance is about 10 KMs. Surely, you will get some profile picture for yourself. Don't choose public transport to go to this place.

Spend some time admiring nature here and then move towards The Monsoon Palace (also known as Sajjan Garh Palace).

Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace

Located on Bansdara peak of the Aravalli hill range (3100 ft above sea level), it was build to track monsoon and was summer resort of Maharanas. I visited this place during monsoons and indeed was a pleasant day.

You need to pre book around 3-4 days prior in peak season for dinner at this island palace built in 17th century. The Boat ride till the palace is arranged by them. Take the ride during sunset for better view.

If you still have some energy left, you may sit by the lake nearest to your hotel or where ever you get the best vibes. Just Relax! 😌

Day 2️⃣

Today we will be visiting Kumbalgarh Fort which is 83 KM drive from the main city. Have breakfast in the city and take a self driven car on rent preferably.

Eklingji is belived to be the ruling God of Mewar. So, when in his city, why not give a bow. Also, it is on the way to the Fort.

You will have lunch near the fort but for the dinner head to city and have it in any lakeview restaurants, but before take a stroll near Fateh sagar lake if you reach in evening around 6 to 7 PM.

Day 3️⃣

This day is dedicated to exploring Udaipur city and shopping 🛍️. 

Start the day by 8 o'clock ⏰ so that the there is enough time for shopping and we visit City Palace in the opening hours to avoid crowd.

Lets try some streets food. Near the temple, you will find

1) Paliwal Restaurant,

2)Jagdish Mistan Bhandar and if you wish to start your day with something healthy, then must try;

Covering up the whole palace will take around 2 hours. Know about the history of Udaipur and its rulers.

You must have seen many shops on the way to Palace. You take your time shopping here. Don't miss bargaining. You wish to some more, you may move to Hathipole market, which is nearby. 

There are many food options in the market or near Lake Pichola. 

Start around 4 for our next destination to watch the sunset ☀️. It will take around half an hour. Either you can take the ropeway or walk. (Ropeway has waiting line). 

Karni Mata Temple, Udaipur

From here, you get the view of Old as well as new city. Watch the sunset here. Go here according to sunset timings as it is different during summers and winters.

In the morning, take a train to chittorgarh. One is at 6 in morning and other at 7:50 AM. It will take around 2 hours to reach.

Any month surely other than summers. 🌞

If you wish to avoid some crowd, may visit during monsoons 🌧️. The place looks lovely but many rooftop restaurant won't be serving and you will get drenched several times. But its worth it.
