After a year in Rio… Here are all my best tips & adress

Every places that I loved the most in my Brazilian life.
From coffees to night life, grocery’s to fancy places, I have meticulously gathered all my favorites adresses, for you to experience an authentic Rio. I hope you’ll fall in love with this city as much as I did.
⚠️ About security:
Rio is effervescent. You can hear lot of things about danger here. It’s true, but as it is in every other big cities. As a Parisian, I wasn’t that much impressed.
Of course you have to be careful, but it’s all about commun sense.
- Do not film peoples or anything without autor in the favela.
- Do not show off & act chill.
- Do not drink to much, always keep your mind clear.
- Always keep a bit of cash with you in case someone tries to robe you.
- Please try to help the peoples around you & local economy. For exemple if you need a bottle of water or gums. it’s better to buy it from someone in the street than in a supermarket.
If you give respect, you receve respect.
Brazilian are some of the most welcoming peoples I’ve ever met.

🌄 Mirantes
The "mirantes" are viewpoints with breathtaking vistas.
As Rio is built in the middle of the mountains, it's full of them. Some are real hikes, others are health walks. Photo spots or insane bars - there a mirante for everyone!

Grab a beer or a caipirinha with your friends, and climb up the Arpoador rock, aka Arpex, to enjoy the sunset behind Dois Irmãos mountains and live a breath taking moment.

Bar jardim porta do Céu

At the entrance of PPG favela, you can hop on a moto taxi or walk until the funicular railway to climb at the top of the Favela. There, someone will be waiting for you and will bring you there.

The Mirante do Arvrão is a Hotel, but also a bar and a place how throw party’s. Stay aware on their Instagram & go there to try a baile funk party on top of Vidigal’s Favela.
