If you're wondering where to spend your next weekend or you are desperately trying to find a romantic getaway to impress your loved one, here is the solution!

Day 1: We started our trip early in the morning because it was a long way to get to our hotel in Gardone Riviera. We spent the whole day there

Hotel Ville Montefiori‎
@giuliamartini
We got super lucky because they offered us to stay in the attic: a small, little room accessible through an outside spiral staircase . The hotel itself is quite nice, with all necessary comfort, a swimming pool and a beautiful garden with a breathtaking view on the lake (the hotel is up on a hill so it offers an amazing view but it is distant from the lake itself). Breakfast was included in the price and I can't complain: it was the typical international breakfast with a good array of food displayed and choices of freshly cooked meals.

We spent the early afternoon browsing around the small town, captivated by the amusing view of the lake. I recommend getting tickets to get on a boat trip and enjoy the view from another perspective.

Vittoriale degli Italiani
@giuliamartini
We then walked all the way up to Il Vittoriale degli Italiani, a creation of Gabriele D'Annunzio in 1921 to remember the Italian endeavour during World War I and the " inimitable life" of the poet-soldier. There is no need to book the ticket in advance if you're not in a group but I still suggest to buy the tickets online to cut the queue. Plan to stay and visit for at least a couple of hours just to make sure that you don't miss a single bit of this amazing place. There are hidden spots everywhere and you want to make sure to get to the top where you can enjoy an amazing view.

DINNER / LUNCH ON THE LAKE SHORES : I know that choosing the right place to eat is always a hard one but I think I have the right restaurant this time. Try it out and then let me know: it is not just good food but it is also great service and an amazing location with a deck out in the lake. We went for dinner so we missed the amazing view out in the sun, hence I suggest you go for lunch / early dinner so you can enjoy the sun and the relaxed atmosphere.

DAY 2: We drove down along the lake shores to reach our second destination, Sirmione

Sirmione
@giuliamartini
There is not much to say about this place except that everywhere you go looks like you're in a fairytale. The whole town is quite small, so it will only take half a day to visit it but do take your time because every street, every shore and every monument requires attention and time.
